Formigli Custom Carbon Road Bikes

Welcome Home To The Roots Of Cycling

Renzo Formigli is a custom Italian bicycle frame builder based in Florence, Italy. His craftsmanship and design are rooted in the rich heritage of Italian frame building masters. Every unique Formigli bicycle frame is built custom for its eventual rider; a one of a kind piece of art. After he or she is measured, a frame is perfectly crafted by hand using the highest quality materials and latest technology. Each frame is finished with a custom paint design. A Formigli frame is as unique as the individual for whom it was created.

The creation of these exclusive hand made bicycles is done on a small scale, allowing Formigli to painstakingly perfect each detail of every frame. The name Formigli is synonymous with the highest level of excellence and quality. Made 100% in Italy.

Renzo Formigli is one of a dying breed of framebuilding masters. He apprenticed with one of the greatest of them all, Cino Cinelli. Originally, all high performance bicycles were custom-built by hand for a particular rider, based on that individual’s unique physical geometry. The framebuilder’s task was to understand how a bicycle works and to match the new frame’s geometry and handling characteristics to its delighted owner. For 25 years Formigli has perfected his craft, picking and choosing among emerging technologies, blending them with the art and science of frame design he absorbed from the old masters. Every Formigli frameset is crafted with Italian materials. Each is built and painted by hand in Italy.

What makes this one of the industry’s most compelling road bikes

Do you feel buried in choices among carbon road bikes? Mr. Formigli has made it easy for you.

This is The ONE. The only road bike you need.

Renzo Formigli calls this new bike “The ONE”. There is no other bike like it. It’s not just the highest performing racing bike Renzo has ever made, magically it is also his most comfortable for gran fondos and club rides.

Those two qualities were thought to be mutually exclusive in one frame: rigidity, thus responsiveness, and comfort. How did he do that? Read more…

New Technology – Old School

To design a brand new carbon frame design, Renzo starts by drawing the frame concept by hand, then, with the carbon engineer, he analyzes each tube’s shape and its performance with the engineer to decide each tube’s final design. Next, a shop in Florence produces the proprietary molds. Our carbon tubes are then produced using these molds by a specialist company in Florence that also makes carbon fiber parts for Ferrari and Ducati. Each Formigli model has its own tubes.  Read more…
